As we near the end of the project we are turning our attention to the workshop that the group will be running with undergraduate architecture students during next week’s Whole School Event. Every live project will be running a workshop that will seek to promote inter-year connections and awareness of how the live projects work and what they can achieve. This is turn should stimulate some discussion and investigation outside the live project group about what alternative architectural practice can entail.
So while we work out how to do that (our ideas are numerous, and some are less flippant than others) I leave you with a quote from Charles Baudelaire’s book Le Joueur Généreux that may or may not become relevant to our workshop.
Mes chers frères, n’oubliez jamais, quand vous entendrez vanter le progrès des lumières, que la plus belle des ruses du diable est de vous persuader qu’il n’existe pas!
That may make more sense when translated…
My dear brothers, never forget when you hear praise about the progress of enlightenment, that the most amazing trick the devil ever played was to persuade us that he did not exist.
